Boxuan Yuan is a London-based artist specialising in photography, whose work embodies calm, sincere, and unembellished observation. His subjects range widely, encompassing landscapes, humanity, and documentary scenes. He primarily works with traditional mediums such as film, Polaroid, instant prints, and peel-apart film, occasionally complemented by digital photography.

Boxuan’s photographic journey began with aerial photography, offering a “God’s-eye view” of the world. Over time, he embraced instant film formats like Polaroid and Instax to respond to moments with immediacy, before returning to film photography to engage in a slower, more thoughtful process. He sees contemporary perceptions as increasingly subjective and clouded by bias, using photography as a means of objective observation — capturing the essence of his subjects with quiet detachment and respect for the world and his craft.
